Chapter 7 - France

Bang! The magic spell made the baby dragon smaller so that it could go through the flap in the room. Pop! A cat that nobody had seen, asleep behind the pile of magic books, had woken with a start. Frightened, he ran through the flap, all surrounded by sparks. Unfortunately, he was getting bigger and his hind legs barely went through the flap.

Hearing the sound of a fierce struggle in the castle courtyard, the children and the magician realized that a terrible battle was taking place between the giant cat and the mother dragon.

MMMIIIAAAOOOUUU ! RRROOOAAARRR !The three friends went looking for another spell in the books, this time to help the cat. They found one: "Put the two keys, click, click! Abracadabra! "

Intrigued, they went out quickly with the key of the lock of the door to place it, for safekeeping, on the neck of the baby dragon. ''Put the keys in, click, clack ! Abracadabra !''.... and they saw with surprise the table rising from the ground and ... travelling through the brick wall.

Chapter 6 - Scotland

“Don’t worry!  I won’t hurt you!  I want to help,” said the wizard.

The children were relieved and started to explain what had been happening.  They told him that they were on a school trip and that everything started with Nancy finding the baby dragon.

“Wow!  That’s exciting!  Where is this baby dragon?” and he looked around.

“I don’t know,” answered Nancy.  “It was here a moment ago.”

Suddenly they heard a loud, squeaky noise.  It came from the cat flap.

“Oh no!” said Nancy.  “The baby dragon is escaping!  Quick!  Catch it!”

They all ran towards the door but it was too late.  The flap closed.

“ROOOOAAARRRR!”

“It’s the mother dragon!” said Sam.

“Quickly!  Let’s hold hands,” said the wizard.

“Hocus pocus!” shouted the wizard.

There was a big BANG and a POP and a puff of smoke.  Sparks started to flash then …

Chapter 5 - Eire

Once they got to the base of the tower they ran to the courtyard, which

was next to the gates of the castle. When they got there they were

exhausted. Sam saw a rock and he managed to pull himself up onto it and

sit on it.

“It feels like the rock is moving!” exclaimed Sam.

“It is”, shouted Nancy, “It’s a wizard’s foot!”

They both looked up and saw an old man with a long beard and a magical

cape glaring down on them.

The wizard had already spotted them. They ran for their lives. They

spotted a tiny room in the corner of the courtyard. Under the door there

was a cat-flap. They jumped through the flap. When they got in they

spotted a key on a table. There were lots of books next to the table.

“This way to the key” said Nancy, pointing at the books. They darted

over to the books and helped each other up them. When they were on top

they reached for the keys.

As fast as possible they ran for the door. Sam lifted Nancy on his

shoulders. Nancy locked the door with the key just as they heard the

wizard approaching. He started banging on the door! Nancy and Sam

looked around the room for somewhere to hide.

When they were hiding behind the books they noticed they were spell

books. They started looking for a spell to make them big again.

“I found it!” declared Sam,
“Abracadabra!”

They were instantly turned back to normal. But the wizard was still

banging on the door. Just then, they heard the door opening….

Chapter 4 - France

A huge spider came down gently and approached Sam and Nancy.

-       "Ugh! A spider!" cried Nancy.

-       "Why do you say it like that Nancy?' asked Sam, as he got a splinter from the old tower floor.

-       "Help us!"

-       "But hang on a minute," murmured the spider, "I do want to help you both."

Quickly, the two children ran towards the spider, they jumped onto his back and guided him towards a mouse hole at the base of the wall.  Little Dragon too  followed them there.

What an event! They avoided the legs of the giant dragon who was spitting fire - he was furious since he had cut his feet on the bits of crockery on the floor. ROOAARR!! Mad with rage and in pain, he destroyed everything around him and ended up buried under a pile of rocks from the tower walls.

From the mouse hole, Sam and Nancy breathed a sigh of relief.

-     How are we going to get to the base of the tower now ? wondered the children.

-     Don't worry, I'll call my friends and family and we will make a chain.

The two friends jumped onto the back of the spider and then onto another and then another, followed by Little Dragon.

Once safely there, Nancy took some sweets out of her bag and both her and Sam gave them out to all the spiders as a thank you to them!

Little Dragon folded his tiny wings.

Chapter 3 - Scotland

Nancy and Sam had forgotten that the cannon fired every day at one o’clock!
“What a big bang!  That made me jump!” said Nancy.
“I had forgotten that the cannon was fired every day!” replied Sam.  “But wait a minute – what is that thumping noise?”
Suddenly Nancy saw an enormous dragon.  It was stamping its feet and spraying fire as it was looking for the baby dragon.
“Aaaah!” Sam and Nancy shouted as they ran away as fast as their legs could carry them.  The dragon was catching up.  Nancy shouted, “Run!  Get to the tower!”
They slammed the door behind them and started climbing up the spiral staircase, but the dragon breathed fire and burnt the door down.  After climbing up thirty huge steps they reached the top.  They were in a dark, square room with lots of plates sitting on shelves.  They were covered in cobwebs and some big spiders were running over the floor.  Nancy and Sam jumped back and bumped into the shelves. Plates started falling everywhere.
The dragon was still coming.  Just then Nancy touched the key and the children started to get smaller and smaller until they were tiny.  Just then the dragon appeared at the top of the stairs…

Chapter 2 - Eire

At school, the teacher asked everyone to take out their maths books. Nancy put

her hand in her school bag and pulled out her maths book. Her pencil fell into

her school bag and as she was about to pull out her pencil something scraped

against her. She looked around the room. No-one was looking so she bent down

to see what scraped her. It was the dragon! Quickly, she slipped it into her

pocket. A couple of minutes later the teacher announced that they were going

on a school trip to Edinburgh Castle. ‘’Yes!’’, everyone shouted.

Soon Nancy was sitting at the back of the bus beside her friend Sam. Sam had

brown hair and blue eyes. ‘’This morning I found a dragon on the way to school’’,

whispered Nancy. ‘’Where is it?’’ asked Sam. ‘’In my pocket’’, answered Nancy.

Nancy and Sam sneaked a peek at the dragon. There was a little chain around its

neck and on the chain there was a little key. The key was gold with black and

purple crystals on it. When they reached the castle Nancy looked around

excitedly. A dark stone castle towered above them, there was a drawbridge

with rusty hinges and a very large court in the centre of the castle. It had four

towers at the corners. ‘’Wow’’, she gasped, ‘’it’s magical’’. Suddenly there was a

loud bang that made everyone jump!

Chapter 1 - France

Once upon a time there was a little girl named Nancy. She was an eleven-year-old blue-eyed girl with long blond hair. She was fair-skinned with lovely rosy cheeks. She was looking forward to her birthday, next March 17.

She lived in Kilmarnock not too far from the sea, with her little brother, Arthur, 4, and her parents. She loved the place because she had a lot of friends there. What she liked most was the sweet shop where she could get sweets, waffles, gingerbread and even 6-scoop ice-cream. Arthur and Nancy were fond of all sorts of delicacies. She also liked the new gym that was next to the tenpin bowling where she would still go every week. Almost everyday she enjoyed settling in the house her father had built up in the tree next to the river.

Nancy would love spending her time inventing silly things. One morning, while she was riding to school, she met the sweet shop keeper who was opening his shop. She asked him for some sweets.

"Thank you!"

Along the way she met a small dragon. She put it hastily in her bag. Once at school, she thought, "I hope the teacher will not find it!"
